Downloadable eBooks are now available!

Tired of dragging heavy hardback books with you? Want to quit juggling multiple paperbacks? Newton Public Library can help!

Through a partnership with the WILBOR consortium, the Newton Public Library is making downloadable eBooks available to readers. First, visit the library Web site at http://www.newton.lib.ia.us. On the home page, locate the icon labeled Adobe Digital Editions® and click on it. This will take you to the Adobe site so you can complete a free download of their software to your home computer.

Once that is installed, readers can download eBooks by visiting the library Web site and clicking on the download audio and eBooks icon on the library home page. Users may browse through the available eBooks and then check out up to three items at a time using a valid library card. Readers can download to PC or Mac® and then transfer their eBook to most eReaders. It isn’t possible to download the available eBooks to a Kindle eReader.

For help when you reach the WILBOR site, click on the Quick Start Guide link on the left side of the screen. If you have questions about downloading eBooks, call the library at 641-792-4108 during regular hours and ask for the librarian on duty at the information desk.
